Nineteen of Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been earned on hardcourt

A resurgent Daniil Medvedev won his first title for 882 days with victory over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open final.

The Russian, a ex- number one, has endured a challenging period, winning just a single victory at the big events and undergoing a setback at the American major.

The player's varied form on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his service game in particular - resulted in him dropping out of the top ten and eventually separating with former trainer Gilles Cervara.

Currently training with Johansson and his other coach, the tennis star has consistently advanced in the past month - culminating in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over Frenchman Moutet.

This marks his maiden championship following the Rome competition and maiden on a hard court from that period of the previous year.

The win also indicates Medvedev has secured 21 championships at twenty-one distinct tournaments.

"It's the first time I am participating in a competition with my children together, so to win a trophy is especially meaningful," stated ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This championship is in dedication of my younger daughter my daughter, because the first title I got when my child Alisa was delivered was for her."

The athlete, the past champion, had lost his past six title deciders, including in that event previously this season.

His retrieving strategy and recurring outbursts on court had caused some to question if his skill to perform at the elite level was concluded.

Yet the athlete has altered his approach in the past month, attempting to advance forward and play aggressively, backed up by an better service.

The champion fought back from a break down in the opening set against the difficult opponent, winning 4 of the final five points to go ahead.

The competitors swapped break points in the second set before the challenger, bidding for his first professional championship, gained dominance to push for a decider.

Moutet saved four initial opportunities in a tight final set before Medvedev won the break to that score to close out the victory.

Suitably, he earned victory with a shot at the net, with his opponent incapable to control a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
